Tax Deductible Massage
You may very well have been getting a tax deductible massage and did not know it. Yes, that's correct! Your massage therapy may very well be tax deductible.
Sounds crazy? Probably not. Take a look at these links to get the whole story. While tax deduction for massage may not apply to everyone, if it does to you, why not take the deduction and save the money.
Take a look at Tax Deduction # 4 from LegalZoom's:
Five Tax Deductions you never thought about
"Deductible medical services can be performed by someone other than your doctor. If you have a condition like a bad back and your doctor says you need a daily massage, this treatment is deductible. Make sure you get a written note from your doctor saying you need those services."
The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation brings up a good point regarding:
Massage - a medical tax deduction
"Remember that the cost of the massage therapy is TAX DEDUCTIBLE as long as it is prescribed by a physician. We have deducted the cost for three years, had have not had a problem."
Does taking a tax deduction for massage still seem like something's not right. Well, it did for me, too, until I read the Internal Revenue Service's
Publication 502 (2006), Medical and Dental Expenses.
Scroll down to "Therapy" on this IRS document, and you'll see, with proper documentation, it is a deductible medical expense.
