Jun 25, 2008, Important Schedule Changes and Updates

Currently, I have been only offering massage services in my office on Fridays and Saturdays. Since the 4th of July falls on a Friday this year, I will be closed. Additionally, since it is a 3-day weekend most clients indicated they would not be coming in for massage session on July 5th. Therefore, I am officially closed July 4th and July 5th this year.

Now….

Some new important scheduling information: Please Take Note.

Many of you have asked since I am finished with schooling at Barry University, what are my plans? Well yes, I did graduate with my Master’s in Occupational Therapy, and yes, I still have to sit for my National Board Exam (looks like August 11th). Currently, I have been awarded a temporary OT license to work until I take the board exam.

As I’ve stated to a few of you, I have been working part-time at Melbourne Terrace Rehab Center in Melbourne, FL as an Occupational Therapist. I will continue to be working there part-time until I take my exam. And yes, until then, I plan on continuing to offer massage services in my office 2 days per week.

Currently, I am working at MTRC Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, but they would like me to include working on Fridays also. I will, therefore, be changing my massage schedule as of July 15th to offer massage appointments only Tuesdays and Saturdays for the rest of the summer. There will be no more Friday appointments after June 27th. Office hours will be the same (9-6), however, I may stay a bit later on Tuesdays to accommodate clients who can only come after work.

I thank everyone for their strong support during my time in school, and my greatest thanks go to everyone who has continued to support my practice during these tough economic times. Because of this steadfast loyalty, my goal to you all is keep offering massage services a couple days per week for as long as there is interest.

I hope you will continue to support my practice and keep up with your regular massages for your health.

Current Appointment Openings :
While all appointments are full for this Friday 6/27, there are a few appointments open for Saturday 6/28. Call now to schedule an appointment if you are interested.

321-725-2438

Remember; please do not call the office number on Fridays of Saturdays. It is likely there will be NOoffice staff available to answer the telephone.

Apr 28, 2008, Reducing Schedule to 2 Days per Week

April was a bit of a slow month for massage. While I do appreciate those who returned for massage appointments during the month of April, I will be reducing my schedule to a 2-day per week practice.

I decided to go with an all-day Friday and Saturday schedule. When I was doing my OT intership from January-March, it appeared that offering massage on Saturdays seemed to help some clients navigate around the busy weekday work schedule.

Still others preferred to have weekends to themselves, hence, I'm keeping one weekday (Friday) to accomodate them. I think it will be the best of both worlds.

Some have already asked what I'll be doing Sunday-Thursday each week. The answer is simple:

STUDY!

My upcoming Occupational Therapy national exam appears to be a real bear, so I'll need to crack up the study guides and get to work. But I'll make it for sure.

And I do thank all of you who have encouraged me all along the way!

Thanks.

Be sure to check out my new schedule on the link below:

Jan 20, 2008, Two Weeks into My OT Internship

I'm two weeks now into my final OT internship at Avante Of Melbourne, a Skilled Nursing/Short Term Rehab here in Melbourne, FL. It's been been busy, and I have still 10 more weeks to go!

One thing I've learned from the experience is the importance of having the proper healthcare insurance. And even if you are of the age of recieving Medicare, it's also very important to have a good Medicare Supplement, else you'll be getting stuck with the 20% of the bill Medicare doesn't cover. While 20% may not sound like much, it can add up quickly over an extended, expensive stay.

If you ever need to stay at a Short Term Rehab facility, hopefully it won't be for long, but in case it does turn out to be a long stay, keep your financial future strong by planning now with a good insurance program.

As I can say from seeing from my experinces with patients at the Avante facility, you don't want to wait until you need insurance to think about getting it.

Jan 13, 2008, Do It Yourself Massage

While I always recommend you seek a professional massage by a licensed therapist, there will always be some out there who will try massage on their own with a spouse, family member or friend. That's fine. Massage is relatively safe.

Still, it's best to get at least a little instruction. Consider Massage Online as a possible way to get this information. There is even a free video to check out.

Jan 6, 2008, An Important Responsibility for Your Own Health

Knowing your own medical history is an important aspect towards reaching good health. As life progresses, however, we often forget the medical history that affected us in our younger years. That bout with mononucleosis as a teenager may be a factor in your chronic fatigue syndrome today. Additionally, it may impact the way your doctor treats your condition.

When seeing a new physician for the first time, you will need to give a full account of your medical history so that physician can make the best choices for treatment.

Remembering your medical history can be daunting. Writing it down on paper with dates, diagnosis and treatments is one way to keep all your medical history straight. Putting your medical history on disc may be another good option.

Jan 1, 2008, Holiday Hangover Headaches

There will always be a few out there that just "over do" the New Year's celebration. And for that, the next morning they will pay with a headache. The usual way to treat this type of headache pain is with a bag of ice to the head.

But there is an easier, less messy way - The elasto gel cold pack. This particular unit is nice. It's in the shape of a nice fitting hood that makes use easy and convienent. Just take it out of the freezer and put it around your head. There's nothing to hold!

The entire line of Elasto Gel Cold Packs is great. They are well made and feel very comfortable.

As you can imagine, my hands often become sore and inflammed by the end of a full day of massage work. I have my own Elasto-Gel Cold Pack for my hand in the shape of a mitten . It cools down the inflammed joints of my hand, and gives me relief so I can enjoy the rest of the evening.

Check out the full line of Elasto-gel Cold Packs in my Amazon Store under the header "Cold Packs/Hot Packs".

Submit your comments/stories, and within a day, they will be posted as a webpage.

Oct 19, 2007, SiteBuildit! Leads the Way for Massage Therapists.

It's interesting to note how few massage therapists use websites to grow their practice. While numerous reasons are given as to why this is so, one common one made by the therapist is that there is no way he or she could ever develop their own site themself.

That just isn't true with the SiteBuildit! system. Anyone can create a quality massage therapy website, and SBI! can lead the way for any massage therapy. See these examples of quality SiteBuildit massage websites created by massage therapists:
