Massage Chairs

I Recommend Them !

As Well As Spas, Jacuzzis & Hot Tubs

I get about one client a month who usually asks me something like, “Sean, if there is one thing that I could buy that would provide the most benefit to my health, what would it be?”

I know what they are asking and I reply, “If money were not a primary consideration, I would recommend the purchase of a home spa (Jacuzzi or hot tub)”.

It’s the truth. I believe everyone would benefit by having their own in-home spa. Even a 15 minute soak in these sophisticated bubble-baths can provide a solid decrease in muscle tension, a positive sense of well-being and most importantly, a much higher quality night of sleep!

I agree, though, even the cheapest hot tub is still fairly expensive for most of us to purchase. And, of course, even if money is not a consideration, where you would put the thing might be a great problem.

While the “spa”, “Jacuzzi”, or “hot tub” recommendation might be my first choice, a close second and probably more practical alternative would be a massage chair. No, I’m not talking about one of those funny looking contraptions you straddle at a health fair while a massage therapist works on your back. I’m talking about one of those high-priced, sophisticated massaging machines that somewhat resemble your old "Lazy Boy" recliner at home.

These units are expensive, but not as expensive as a spa. I think that anyone would be able to find a place in their living room or den for one of these chairs, plus they can be ordered to match the color of your existing furniture.

While some are more complex than others, these are all much more sophisticated massage machines than the ones you see available at Walgreen’s for $99. Some of the massage motions that these chairs produce get rather close to human hands. (Careful! I might be out of a job)

If you are serious about the purchase of one of these massage chairs and start to compare prices, be sure to investigate if "Free Shipping" is included with the deal. Some sellers will give you a great price, only to find out that there is another $300-$400 tacked on in the form of "shipping & handling".

While I would never recommend one of these massage chairs for replacing the hands of a massage therapist (human touch has its unique value), this might be the way to go for anyone who insists they have absolutely no time to get a massage from their local massage therapist. I’ve used these machines before and I feel they would be an excellent resource to blow away a little muscular tension after a tough day at the office.
